Many people of the world-wide family of Don Orione have contributed to the Don Orione for Marsabit project, so it is right that they should have some feed-back about how their donations were used. The first phase of the project consisted of a visit of Fr Alessio Cappelli, Sr. Margaret, Br Ian Kiprotich, Postulant Anthony Gachau and a postulant of the Sisters of Don Orione to Marsabit town where they delivered food to schools, medicines to dispensaries and seed for sowing to families.
They were also shown an area of great need in a place called Kargi 75km from Marsabit.

The Reality
We have taken notice of the real need to help children of poor families in their schooling in our Parish. Though it was great number of children who attended the Parish school, they also needed school coaching assistance and be properly fed in order to sustain them in their physical growth as well as to improve in their school education.
The Don Orione Center was opened on November 16th, 2006. We welcomed 25 children at the beggining. Today we have 105 children and many more on the wating list.
1. The Goal

The Technical Training Center of Bonoua was created in 1995 with the goal of stopping rural flight through specialized training aimed at producing self-sufficient small business owners and highly skilled laborers. The Center trains its students in the professions of: sewing and tailoring, electrician,
mason, automotive mechanic and plumber. The Center hopes to train carpenters in the near future through the financial support requested here. The Center organizes classes of 25 young people who lack a formal education and who therefore have difficulty making a living for themselves and their families. These classes, taught by experts in their respective fields, are structured to provide a practical and comprehensive training in the various professions.
Project Location
Bonoua is a city situated in the southern, South Comoe, region of the Ivory Coast; 20 km from Gran-Bassam, the colonial capital and 65 km away from the economic hub of Abidjan.
